Shower disks

January 15, 2015

Here is the recipe I used to make some shower disks for Matt to use to have the whole steam and essential oils working for him

1 cup of baking soda
1 T cornstartch
1/3c of water

Mix together until the mixture is pourable, you may need to add more water.

Place in either a silicone muffin pan or into paper cupcake liners and bake at 350 for 15-20 min.

Here's where I messed up:
I should've added the water 1/4 c at a time
I overfilled my cupcake liners at about 1/2 full
I overbaked by 5ish min.

After my disks were cool I added my essential oils:
1-2 drops of OnGuard
1-2 drops of Breathe
1-2 drops of Peppermint
1-2 drops of Rosemary

Place in the bottom of shower and shower as usual.  I turned my shower slightly hotter than I usually have it and then put my disk in.  My whole bathroom smelled awesome and Matt reports less congestion overall.

I got 8 disks out of this batch, but if I would've filled the liners 1/4 I would've gotten 16 or so.

I use DoTerra essential oils for my family because I trust how they are processed and truly enjoy the smell of them.  Here is where to buy: http://www.mydoterra.com/bugmama/

We have the sickies

January 15, 2015

The sickies has hit our house.  Matt seems to have the flu, Liam has a cold and a low grade fever.  So what am I doing?  Sterilizing my house ha!

No really I boiled all of my breast pump stuff and bottles yesterday morning, I've been running my air purifier non-stop, made chicken soup because well that's what you do when people are sick.

The biggest thing that I'm doing to help my family get better and hopefully stay better?  I'm using essential oils, pushing fluids, and helping everyone get some rest.

For Matt I have been making him 'tea' with some honey, onguard, lemon, and frankincense.  I also made a roller ball with OnGuard, frankincense, and oregano oil and then filled to the top with fractionated coconut oil.  I have him apply this blend twice a day to the bottom of his feet.  I also made some shower disks for Matt. Recipe in another post.

For Liam I have been diffusing breathe in his room to help with his respiratory issues.  Poor guy has had a snot faucet for the last couple of days.  He's had a low grade fever that I haven't treated because hopefully the fever will do it's job and help him fight whatever is going on.  I've been using some apricot oil (because it was upstairs and I didn't want to walk back downstairs!) and added a half a drop of lime and a half a drop of myrrh for a little chest rub.  Lime and myrrh are supposed to help with excess mucus production to help things dry up.  I've been applying 2-3x a day to hopefully help him not feel so icky.

What am I doing for me?  Well I had ordered some OnGuard drops that arrived today and I've been using those along with pushing fluids for me, getting rest when I can, and the biggest thing of all?  Staying home!

If you're interested in DoTerra let me know!  Here is my website to order from.  The OnGuard drops are seriously amazing! http://www.mydoterra.com/bugmama/

Here are a couple of pictures of my sickie little guy who is still happy despite not feeling great.

We had a bit of a rough night with him coughing

Pinterest idea that was fun for 10ish minutes

Mama needed to make chicken soup so this guy needed a ride since he gets into all the things when he's getting sleepy

Still smiles despite feeling not so great.

Liam is 11 months old!

January 9, 2015

Liam is now 11 months old!  Liam is standing and walking around all the things!  He will hold your hand and walk but he hasn't let go yet!  He loves his little cars that he can walk around the living room with and has recently figured out how to turn them :)

Liam's favorites are: Mommy, milk, Daddy, his bulldog Charlie, his puppy Allie, his friends (our nanny and her son), his ride on cars, peek a boo, and anything that plays music.

He has started to bounce when music is playing and actually bounces to the beat, or maybe that's wishful thinking on my part!

We took Liam to a Children's museum mostly just to see if he was interested in it.  He started out a bit slow but he warmed up after he saw the fishies.  He enjoyed going around and seeing all the things.  Then we took him over to the water and let him touch it.  He was so excited!  He splashed with one hand and then splashed with the other and finally he splashed with both.  He was definitely soaked but he had a blast!

First balloon!

Daddy couldn't wait to give him his birthday present...a month early!

Loves gnawing on carrots

Splashing in the water was probably his favorite part of the children's museum

I walk Mama! Just don't let go!

Daddy made him a house to play in.

This little onesie says 'Smiling is my favorite' I bought it for his first Christmas, little did I know that he would be such a smiley boy.

I don't really get the present thing

The awe of a simple gift, he kept looking down at the toy remote and then up at us and grinning.  So sweet.
